Either Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree is essential for anyone who chooses to pursue teaching as a profession.  While one can pursue B.El.Ed., which is a four-year degree, after higher secondary level (Class 12), B.Ed. can only be pursued after graduation. B.El.Ed. makes an individual eligible to teach at elementary school level while B.Ed. degree is compulsory to teach at secondary and higher secondary levels. One can also pursue Master of Education (M.Ed.) for better job opportunities.
